How do I apply?

When applications are open to the public, you will be able to apply on the DMC website. If they are not currently open, please see our Program Updates page where you can subscribe to our mailing list and get the inside scoop on developments.

Do you have advice on how to get accepted?

Be honest. Be succinct. Be thorough. In that order.

We're interested in your experiences and motives for taking the program, working hard to ensure cohorts are balanced with a blend of students that will make for an optimal learning experience for all.

Who is the ideal candidate?

This is a robust program that requires hard work and dedication. We aim to fill each cohort with the best possible applicants, to improve the learning quality and ensure the students can keep pace with the modules.

All applications are manually reviewed by our admissions committee and offers are made in order of optimal fit for the program. This helps to ensure each student get the best value for their time and money. Several criteria are considered when determining fit for the program. While each criterion alone is not absolutely essential, the more you have, the better. We prefer applicants to have:

  • A Marketing or Communications diploma or degree from a college or university;
  • 2-5 years of work experience, with at least 2 years in a field related to marketing or communications;
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience with at least some digital marketing tools or techniques;
  • Full fluency in English (due to fast-paced learning environment);
  • Ability to commit to the intense schedule and module assessments in the DMC;
  • Career goals aligned with the program's learning outcomes.

Don't be discouraged if this doesn't perfectly describe you. We often see quite a bit of diversity in our cohorts ranging from corporate employees, to independent professionals, to government employees, to entrepreneurs and freelancers. Regardless of your current job, the Digital Marketing Certificate is for people who want real-world knowledge, industry-standard certifications, and job-ready digital marketing skills.

Is there an application fee?

Yes, due to the volume of applications we receive, we charge a fee to ensure that only serious applications are submitted. Our admissions committee also manually reviews all applications to ensure the best possible fit of our students. The DMC's application fee is a non-refundable $100 +HST, which will be deducted from your tuition fees if you are accepted into the program.

What are the admission requirements?

Once applications are open to the public, you can apply by submitting an application form for review. Our admissions committee reviews each application manually and will make offers based on the optimal fit for the program (see "Who is the ideal candidate?"). You may be asked for a phone interview with one of the Program Directors if there are any clarifying questions about your application.

This is a bring-your-own device program, so you will need to have a laptop to do in-class work.

As part of your application, you will be asked to pay a non-refundable Application Fee of $100 +HST (see "Is there an application fee?" for more information).

Please note: In order to secure your seat, you must pay 50% of tuition within one week of receiving an offer. The remaining balance is due within one month of your initial offer. If you fail to pay on time, you will be reimbursed your tuition paid, less your Application Fee, less 20% as an administrative charge, and we will open your position for another student on our waiting list.
